How would you feel if a sober driver did it? There were numerous factors involved in that crash and he could just as easily have crashed sober. Maybe he started thinking about something he said to his friends at the party and lost concentration for that moment because of that. What would you suggest then? Don't drive unless you're a loner?
Why do people assume that if a slightly drunk guy crashes it's because of the alcohol? Don't sober people crash, too? What causes it then?
