Coast Guard cutter doing routine ice breaking operations on the Hudson River caught on tape a tugboat having trouble with two of its barges loaded with with scrap metal. The captain noticed the first barge was taking on water and attempted to push it onto dry land to prevent it from sinking, but unfortunately it overturned before he was able to get it to shore. (1997)
Buchanan Marine. They use there good barges to haul Aggregates, and there Shitter barges for hauling scrap. This is no surprise. They usually flip a couple of barges per year.
Now that the barge is bottom side up, you would think they would have crews make repairs, add zincs, etc. NOPE ! This is a very big company, one would think it would be better run.
