What can I say, I saw Myron Grombacher, in Derringer at Toads long before he was in Benatar and was floored, he bought great fire to Pat&Neil's band, he knows when to lay back and when to power, I learned a lot from listening and watching him and rec'd him to every drummer, the mid section is an interesting 4 way limb separation exercise, I may add more Benatar, I love it, great songs, killer guitar and drums, a great band!

  • Very Nice drumming....I don't think the break uses rim hits but a combination if rim shots and hi hat/bass drom work. (not as complex as you made it)..also the ending has some very nice "myron" style drumming that you blew over with a riff down the toms...but most of the song was very nicely done.

  • @mickmack22 yes, very astute of you, I'm a Moon type drummer, that was something Moon would do in Now I'm A Farmer etc, but he would use a floor tom on his knee and then chuck it, what I try to do on all songs is showcase my style, I do not believe we should copy note for note at all moments, but like with a song like LZ Kashmir you should copy or it'll sound weird, I think all drummers should be careful not to copy others to allow their own style to bloom, while picking up some flavor

  • @905Alive---and if you wrote out what I play and Myron there are many many differences, the break part is a good example of not copying, that is how I would do it because it is more natural to me probably from 40years of playing Moon??? I dunno, but what I ma trying to tell other drummers is to let your natural juices flow, grab the groove, let your fills come naturally, or at least some of them and keep growing from there, #1 is keeping time, let the fills be what you're feeling

  • Killer set! Many drummers I've played with have need of learning "space"

  • thanks, Tico Torres is another great example of drummers that use space

for me is was a hard road because when I started all the 3 piece power trios were hot, Cream, Rush, GFR, and with 3 piece you need to do a lot of fill

as a band adds players a drummer needs to lay back....there's a fine line there...somewhere

  • Excellent playing man!

I saw Grombacher with Benatar in the early 80's and he was awesome!

  • @mg4150 thanks, he is killer, I find studying him and Richie Hayward taught me "space", that little pause that keeps you from being too hurried, sometimes silence is golden

  • Good job, dude!

  • Ain't nobody livin', in a perfect world

Everybody's out there, cryin' to be heard

Now I got a new fire, burnin' in my eyes

Lightin' up the darkness, movin' like a meteorite
