According to the Sydney Morning Herald July 23 2010
The federal government has allegedly censored approximately 90 per cent of a secret document outlining its controversial plans to snoop on Australians' web surfing, obtained under freedom of information (FoI) laws, out of fear the document could cause "premature unnecessary debate"

@drukenhard yes, well, NOW we do, and they deserve something good for that, but I wouldn't trust Abbott himself not to throw fundamentalist bullshit if he gets into power (and I don't get a say in the matter either way, I'm still 17 come August 21st)

@AquaRing We do now.....they WONT support a filter....even if not in power

@drukenhard We have absolutely no idea on the Liberal Party's stance on the filter; and Abbott sounds like the kind to enforce it further...

We need to vote these bastards OUT!
Don't vote for the Greens because your preferences will go to Labor anyway....Vote Liberal and get these pricks out of power!

That document looks like something out of the Cold War with everything blacked out.
Or also from the USSR, secret police, stopping the public from asking unnecessary questions and keeping tabs on what we're saying and doing online.

The government censoring information, monitoring what citizens do and taxing the shit out of everyone. Sound familiar?

There are two sides to this "debate": people with a brain (ie. most of the Australian public aware of this) and sad little Stephen Conboy.
Seriously, this just proves everyone's suspicions; they're not doing this for ANY good reason. Come on government, what are you trying to hide? Did a whistleblower bust you for stupidity?

What the hell is going on with this Labor government, heaven forbid we should think for ourselves, I guess we can kiss our freedom of speech goodbye and so much for public debate on this kind of heavy handed hypocritical information gathering, arseholes the lot of them...
