"Gloomy Sunday" is a song composed by Hungarian pianist and composer Rezső Seress in 1933 to a Hungarian poem written by László Jávor (Wikipedia)

actually i agree with kiyoskiyos
the song wasnt mean to have the second ending
not that i dont love sarahs voice in this song
its really pretty
but the song was only altered because people found it too depressing and disturbing....so they changed it to make it happier -__-

My soul's totally flooded with despair and hopelessness for life, I have a big rope and making my noose as I listen to this song.

-.- The Billie Holiday version isn't the original.
It's just the original IN ENGLISH.
In Russian, by the original composer, the ending isn't there. That is why it was supposed to be the 'suicide song.'

True, except that the original isn't Russian, but Hungarian.
