On 5/11/10 Nicole Herron was recognized during an award ceremony at LaJoya Middle Schools by Principals', teachers, and peers for a Character Counts/Pillar award for LEADERSHIP.
We are so proud of her accomplishments!! She has truly exceeded our expectations this year. The transition from elem.school to middle school is not always an easy one but we have been so pleased with how much she has grown, matured and we are just so proud of her!!
This award was for the month of March. She and 7 other students were treated to a limo ride & lunch at the mall w/ the principal. It was "awesome" Nicole said.
Here is the video I took during the ceremony....i don't know why the sound quality was fuzzy so for clarity purposes I've included the words that were spoken. This is what was said:
Spoken by Kelly Pettey (from Tulare County Office of Education):
"We will now recognize students for the Leadership award. They have a strong task ahead of them. They're a potent combination of all 6 pillars of character. When you think of a leader you think of trustworthiness and respect and responsibility. You can't have a leader without being fair, caring and above all a good citizen. They'll walk the walk even when its hard to do so. We appreciate all that they do, the staff and their peers at LaJoya Middle School. So let's see who our leaders are here this morning"
Then Bob Cessena (Lajoya counselor) gets up and introduces the students. He starts off w/Nicole & here is what he said:
"Nicole Herron....this is what your teachers have to say about you.
Thank you for all your hard work.
I know you have a bright future ahead of you.
You make my day when you come into the classroom.
You are truly a leader who shines and is kind.
You are a very high achieving young lady and much deserving of this award."
After the ceremony they treated the kids to muffins & juice.
