DON'T JUST BE A 'CRITIC'. Post some helpful FEEDBACK so that EVERYONE learns. I am only listing their "base training system" as everyone here cross-trains. This is a friendly sparring session and folks here are not here to prove a point, but rather, to learn from each other.

If you are in the Orange County, California area, you are welcome to attend our meetups. Everyone here can show others some techniques from their style so that everyone can learn from each other. We just ask that people leave their EGO at home, come with an open mind and join in on the fun!

  • When watching your videos, it seems to me, that practioneers of Boxing, MT and WC are more used to actually hitting ppl, and they do so with less restraint than the practioneers of more stylized arts. This TSD guy moves pretty well, and once he learns to be determined, fearless, keep his eyes on the action, and hit his opponent without hesitation, he'll be a force to be reconed with.

  • @piaten In response to: "that practioneers of Boxing, MT and WC are more used to actually hitting ppl"

That might be a 'good' generalization of their training approaches. I think it also depends on each of the practitioners and also the amount of pressure their sparring partner is giving in return.

  • @ocopenmartialarts Sure it depends on a lot of things, but I'm not really generalizing. I made my observation based on say about 5 of your videos. IMO, my statement holds true for these particular vids, though it might not for others. Seems you guys are havin a lot of fun! I wish we could pull something like this off in our city as well, but it's not likely to happen, since the weather and local MA politics pose serious problems

  • @piaten Just curious, which ones? MA politics is hard to get over, although, the main reason we co-founded this meetup was to get away from the typical school politics. Most schools don't like other systems introduced into their training. Our meetup allows a venue for other martial artists to mix without advocating that the new guy "junk" what they have learned and learn our way, cause we don't really have "our way." We're just a collective of practitioners that have a passion for martial arts.

  • the muay thai fighter was bigger and stronger, i dont think it was far but this is sparring so its ok i guess. :P

  • @ocopenmartialarts @ocopenmartialarts Couldn't find all of them, but this one and the "JKD vs. boxing" would fall in this category. And I also stumbled over some vids where this trend is less present as well.

  • @piaten Very constructive observations!
