You can't really compare Mazda to Fiat quality... Or even prefer a Fiat over a Mazda. :|

Plus, I think the Mazda2 even looks way better than that stupid 500.

you can drive as good as the Fiat in the city... but you can drive much more sporty with the mazda!

AND: it is not only a female-car like the Fiat!

BTW... if you compare a Dodge Charger with an RX-7 you'll have quite the same comparision! Haven't you found a better car to compare like the Yaris or Colt? Poor...

@maniok1 Fiat quality has leaped ahead in recent years. Its still too early to tell if reliability can match Mazda, but by all accounts its getting there, with the exception of Fiat's dualogic transaxle. God alone knows why they don't ditch it for a proper, less complicated automatic.

As for the comparison, I too think its a bit off, but I dont agree with your conclusion. The 500, Punto, and Bravo all ooze Italian flair and sensuality over Mazda's competing cars. In desirability, Fiat wins

@007texan the partnership you speak of is really a parent/subsidiary relationship. Ford owns Mazda... well they own controlling interest in Mazda, so basically its their's to do what they want. As for the similarities between cars, the Fiesta and Mazda 2, and Focus and Mazda 3, share common platforms, but a lot of components are not interchangeable.

I bought a Mazda 2 Sport 5 door and LOVE it!!! Test drove a Fiat 500 and cannot see how the two compare. Fiat was falling apart on the test drive and couldnt accomodate my wife and 3 kids (nor could a Mini or Beetle),,,,but the Mazda has been faultless for the last 2 years.... 5 stars.

Since Mazda & Ford have a partnership and shares a lot of common parts, does this car share many attributes to the Ford Fiesta? I'm from the States and seeing these super minis are rare. I know that the Ford focus shares commonalities with the Mazda 3.
