Well, here it is...the final showdown with the titular villain himself...and boy does he have a lot of tricks up the sleeves of that unisex robe of his. The first trick, of course, is starting the battle at the beginning of the stage instead of waiting calmly for us to reach him on that throne of his...we just immediately walk in and start to duke it out.

Seriously, the guy is just faster and stronger and takes a hit better than any other opponent in the game...but flaming knives and materializing bear traps? Some of these attacks are just plain strange. I also don't recall flight being one of his preferred super powers, but he jumps around like crazy in this. They made him worth a whopping 100,000 points just for beating him, though...that's worth two additional lives from zero remaining., so I can't say that I wasn't glad to get them.

I kinda laugh when it refused to allow a continue while I was making my daring escape..."PLEASE WAIT" being arcade game terminology for "it's not convenient for us to allow you to rejoin just yet, we'll let you know when the game is ready again." But you know, there's really not another chance to rejoin, so it's kinda strange to ask someone to wait in that case.

I like the "joke" of the timer in that Putties kept spawning until the time was almost out and the Megazord was cued to "rescue" me for having arrived before the countdown had reached zero.

One thing about the pre-credits thing that bugs me is that the school "bullies" Bulk and Skull are the victims of direct violence when they interfere with the match...because, well, they might get pranked or something, but I think that the martial artists kinda considered it beneath them to actually bother fighting the two punks...and it really doesn't set a good example for the kids either. Oh well, I'm surprised they got to make a cameo appearance anyway.

The "secret code," by the way...is actually a "reward" of sorts that makes you begin each stage pre-morphed, which I actually find to be more a curse than a boon, since it means you can't get a full heal midway through the stage or at the very least right before a boss.

  • ...What did Bulk and Skull do to you two?! Geesh, it's like you guys TRIED to be bullies when Rocky, Adam, and Aisha replaced your best friends. Geesh... y'know, I was upset about it too, but dang. @.@

  • @MetaGrave Yeah, PuddiTopsicles raised this same concern.

I have no idea what's with the random violence against the harmless "bullies." It's so completely out of character...I guess somewhere a wire must have gotten crossed between Bandai and Saban, and a moment of complete character derailment was supposed to be played for laughs.

Oh well, it's jarring, but it's also a little tacked on element for the very last second (literally) before the credits roll, so I guess I can forgive (or forget).

  • Why the hell did they beat the shit outa Bulk & Skull?

I don't remember that in the show.

  • @PuddiTopsicles That always bugged me about the way they showed up in this game. I mean, the whole point was being BETTER than them, even if the two punks were ridiculously out of their minds for messing with a clique of martial arts experts.

I guess at the end of the day, it really did show a nice, subtle lesson to remind the audience that the superheroic action had a time and place...and that place was NOT around harmless pests like Bulk and Skull. (Way to go missing the moral, video game!)

  • Pink Ranger was playing grabass with the Red Ranger in the outro.

  • @LaserfaceJones Ah, I see what you mean, but that glove is just a tad too big to be on the Pink Ranger's arm, it's just that her elbow happens to meet at the edge of the Red Ranger's glove.

He's got his hands on his hips, and she's clutching her stomach with her arm tucked in. The overlap really is rather misleading if you look at it just the right way, though...like an unintentional optical illusion.

I kinda like how it can be seen both ways, though...good eye!

  • noo adam dieded.

  • @pumpkinman4ever Well, as I noted with the video of the first stage, it does star the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and features a guest villain named Ivan Ooze...but yeah, that's where the similarities to the movie upon which it claims to be based happen to end.

  • Wow, this game is nothing like the movie at all.

  • That is a unisex robe. Unisex things are only understood and appreciated by the enlightened.
