Hundreds of workers at the Diageo Scotch Whisky plant in Glasgow have had a special treat this morning, thanks to Formula One's world champion.

Lewis Hamilton gave them a thrilling demonstration of his title-winning McLaren-Mercedes car - the first time it has appeared in Scotland- outside the Shieldhall factory.

He says he was delighted to put on the show and thank the staff for their support.

He said: "I'm very excited to be here and I've been working with Johnnie Walker now for a couple of years but it's the first time I've been up here in Glasgow at Shieldhall, and I get to do a bit of a demonstration. I was driving the car yesterday, the actual 2009 car, but to do the doughnuts, you don't actually get to do that on a real racetrack."

The Johnnie Walker brand is one of the sponsors of the Vodafone McLaren-Mercedes team, to promotes a responsible drinking message.

After the fun of today, the hard work of developing the new car begins for Lewis ahead of the Australian Grand Prix in March.

  • what a boss

  • Health and safety must have been involved... notice everyone has earplugs lol

  • lol check ot the steam commin off the hot tires

  • @SuperGreenough : I have Nothing against Hamilton personaly. But I think that was a dark period on F1, as the article says: " But there was also 2008 to consider. They had had this information in the crucial April to July period during which the following year's car takes shape. They would have had the benefit of the combined knowledge of McLaren and Ferrari in developing their 2008 car."

But FIA was safeguarding british jobs, far enough. But a shame for the sport.

  • @consulini1 ok I found the article you refer to, my bad, it says they would have benefitted from having that knowledge, not "We could absolutely prove that Ferrari information was used in McLaren's 2008 car"

  • @SuperGreenough Think again cookie boy. A simple search on google should do the trick. Try it, just type: Max mosley on mcLaren.

    See ya !!

  • @consulini1 You fail miserably in your trolling. The "Spygate" scandal was in 2007 not 2008. Unless you have some information and proof, which I doubt as it was not reported in ANY COUNTRY'S MEDIA.

  • I love Hamilton!!!

  • I have to say he doesn't set a good example to staff at the factory. There is a sign that says 10mph. Naughty naughty...

  • Just a few weeks ago max mosley said that McLaren used Ferrari's data in their 2008 car as well and nothing was done because FIA was safeguarding british jobs.

The whole thing is a shame. 2008 should be cancelled.
