Genevieve Moody Semi Finalist - Professional.
Perhaps too deep for a competition... But I knew that judging criteria was biased towards a high trick rate. I wanted to express myself and therefore did it my way.
This choreography reflects on women's attitudes towards themselves and their bodies, and how people percieve each other, judge each other and the consequences that this has - both in relationships between men and women and how women relate to each other. The early part of the choreography talks about breast surgery and injection of cosmetic enhancing compounds and the destruction of self, most notably the destruction of Anna Nicole Smith. Occlusion of the left arm represents occlusion during drug abuse and the red light forms the injection site. The right wrist carries a red light to light up the face and both give weight to movements carried out.
The choreography is inspired in part by the lyrics to the song, my own experiences in life and in pole dance, my views on pole dance, auditions and performances that I have experienced, people that I have met, of course the wonderfully talented Lady Gaga and the people that she talks about in the lyrics who lost the fight,
