  • When I was a kids I couldn't stand this stuff, now years later, I think it's more advanced than the T-rex stuff he later did.

  • Actually saw Tyrannosaurus Rex at the very first IoW Festival in 1968 I believe. Main act was Jefferson Airplane. Also on the bill were Fairport Convention, Crazy World of Arthur Brown, The Move, Pretty Things, Pink Faries, Orange Bicycle, Aynsley Dunbar and John Peel as compere. Still got the ticket and the cost was £1.50!

  • The albums Unicorn (with Took) and Beard of Stars (with Finn), were his masterpieces. But Salamanda Palganda, after many years, I relised, was my faourite song of all. I know every word by heart 30- 40 years later, lol

'Small girl with a smiling gibbon, bridled with an orchid ribbon......'

  • TuwhituWHOO!

  • Such unique stuff. Yeah, Steve Took was sacked by Marc cos he was taking too much acid and whipping himself onstage with a belt, but he still had great musical abilities......

  • Marc and Steve were unique thankyou were ever you are.

  • Bonkers indeed!

    Glorious hippiefolk middle-earth Renaissance glamour.

    Unknown, underappreciated, timeless.

Thank the heavens for Tyrannosaurus Rex.

  • I ain't seen this before. Good one. Thanx

  • @butler2035 Yeah, I seriously don't see how Bolan's so unknown. I think everyone that listened to rock in the 70s knows who he is. I wouldn't know who he was if it wasn't for my dad either. I knew about T. Rex, just not Marc.

  • Gloriously bonkers! The early Tyrannosaurus Rex stuff is a wonderful mixture of tripped-out Hippy lunacy pretending it all means something by drenching everything in ripped-off Tolkienesque imagery.

    It doesn't mean s**t, but it's fun!

  • Steve Took was completely out of his tree most of the time, but he had a great sense of rhythm on the bongos, far better than the later Micky Finn on the congas!
