F**k single payer. It is communist. Gov't rationing of healthcare for all it's citizens is a takeover of their lives.
Face the facts people: You don't have a right to live. You have a right to affordable healthcare that you PAY FOR ON YOUR OWN. Healthcare is a service and should never be free for everyone. F**k universal healthcare and Cenk stop being a Michael
Moore puppet!

For all of you American viewers, search "Tommy Douglas on Future of Medicare (1983)".
(Tommy Douglas is man that made the Single Payer System in Canada)

Yeah, guy, you have it right. With the healthcare industry having its stranglehold both on the legislators and the consumers they're set up to gouge the hell out of us ad nauseum. Take a look at the YouTube video of Professor Debra Satz of Stanford University. She mad a speech entitled "The Moral Limits of Markets" and healthcare was one of her examples where such limits enter into the picture. I, too, think we should have a single payer, but others won't see it until the country is bankrupt.

@MaryWaterton Did you watch the video? No?

@medliberty Waiting times are only long for non-essential services

@suarezguy Overhead costs in a for-profit healthcare system will ALWAYS make it cost more.

Given that the lack of competition (indeed important to capitalism) is having a negative effect on the health care sector, there should be more competition, not less in the form of single-payer. That more competition would improve things at least somewhat seems obvious.
Providing treatment regardless of insurance is not required in non-emergency situations but is in imminent life-and-death emergencies, so his comparison to a fire being put out regardless of insurance doesn't work.

There has never been a study done on waiting times in Canada. The whole thing is a BS story made up out of thin air by the far right and accepted without question by most of us.

@mmccormack09 Honestly, it's regulated in places that are somewhat unnecessary. The best way to regulate something in a capitalist society is to tax the aspect that you don't like. If industries don't comply, tax them. Money gained through production is REAL money, not *maybe* money gained from gambling...
You morons bitch about there being too much regulation in our government, when you have ignored the fact that many institutions are indeed socialist.
Take the Police Service: Social Program
Take the Fire Department: Social Program
Take the Public School System: Social Program
Take the Corrections System: Social Program.
Now just think about what these Institutions would be like if they were run by say, General Motor or Phillip Morris and tell me if that's the America you want to live in.

But Cenk, our taxes in Canada are not really higher than yours.
I'm glad you want single payer. You see, Canada used to be America's health care twin, but then we went to single payer and things dramatically improved.
