Al Green was born on April 13, 1946 in Forrest City, Arkansas. He is an American gospel and soul music singer who was extremely popular in the 1970s with soul hits such as "Let's Stay Together" and "I'm Still in Love With You". Greene was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2005. That same year, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him #65 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
"How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" was released in 1972 and is Green's cover of a Bee Gees song from 1971.
