True concert footage of Quicksilver Messenger Service remains rare, and any hardcore fan of the band will want to get the limited edition 3 DVD set "Recoil" which includes never before seen video (seen by me anyway) of Quicksilver Messenger Service live in concert! A truly bitchin' extended psychedelic version of Who Do You Love is my personal fave! Watching the duel lead guitars of John Cipollina and Gary Duncan is something to see!

anyway, get "Recoil" here while it's still available

  • Nothing in life was better then standing in front of John Cipollina when he cut loose. Been hooked on him since I 1st saw QMS at the Fillmore in 1966. Went to their gigs almost every weekend until they broke up late 68' & as soon they reformed I was back until John quit the band.

  • Nice f-ing tone .....its a CARVIN DC-150 not a Gibson, Fender of Ibanez!!!!

  • Awesome! Cip was the man! Thanks for posting!

  • As a young teenage guitarist I would put Quicksilver on the headphones and study John C's beautiful and unique playing. It still gets me.

  • you can get the whole set on dvd at Amozon: Rockpalast: West Coast Legends, Vol. 1

  • John C.

You were one of the very best in the era of the most amazing talents of the last millenium. Forgive us for not adequately acknowledging your abilities during your lifetime. "Requiescat in pace" and know that the appreciation of your talent survives your physical presence in this realm.

  • He died on my third birthday. RIP, you crazy shit.

  • I rarely say this...

    SO FUCKING GOOD.

  • Rock in Peace, John...May, 29th, 1989. Rock on, John..

  • HOT!

  • Yeah, John Cippolina, was arguably the best of San Franciscos Acid Rock guitarists, as he never touched an acustic guitar that I ever saw .....

    ..... always electric!
