You may think I'm insane now- but this piece, regardless of the instrumentation used, is one of the greatest masterpieces of 20th century music. For me Weberns Symphony, Stockhausens Kontrapunkte, Carters first quartet, Reichs music for 18 musicians and Rileys In C are the greatest musical achievements in the last 100 years in terms of concept and content. This particular piece is more than just a static piece- it's a vivid organism, every performance has its own, new soul.
it's so amazing, a piece with enough freedom for the performers to create a different version each time, an they don't even know what it will be
