A brother and sister move into an old seaside house they find abandoned for many years on the English coast. Their original enchantment with the house diminishes as they hear stories of the previous owners and meet their daughter (now a young woman) who now lives as a neighbor with her grandfather. Also heard are unexplained sounds during the night. It becomes obvious that the house is haunted. The reasons for the haunting and how they relate to the daughter whom the brother is falling in love with, prove to be a complex mystery. As they are compelled to solve it, the supernatural activity at the house increases to a frightening level.

This is a horror film. Just because no one gets killed brutally doesn't mean it's not a horror film. Suspense is not a genre of movie. It's designed to build tension which a lot of older horror films did. Also the Haunting and the innocents are considered to be horror films as well and they're like the uninvited. The term for these kinds of horror films are called, "psychological horror films". Horror can be scary, creepy, disgusting, and shocking.

this was one of the best ghost movies ever made.it was dark gothic with great atmosphere cinematography and great acting from the stars of the film.this movie was shot in the 40s but it didnt feel dated of the special effects.actually the effects worked pretty well in the movie and with the black and white color made the movie to be scary and apealing.there is a scene in the end of the movie which will haunt you for many years lol.

they did captured the essence of the supernatural very well

Did you know her dad Otis Skinner was also a famous actor? It's always very neat to learn about your family history. I love to write too, I was published at 13 years old. My dad always told me that there were a lot of writers in our family. I never have acted professionally, but our daughter loves to. Check into your family history, you never know what you might find.
