Text book vent job, that is why we vent roofs. Considering the only hoseline in the house was attacking the fire on the 1st floor. If the roof had not been vented fire conditions on the 2nd floor would have been dramatically worse. The dispatch was for people trapped, it was a priority to search the upper floor. This was accomplished without the protection of a hoseline thanks to all ventilation efforts.
