"Motorway City" is a 1983 single by the UK rock group
The song was first recorded in demo form by the Hawklords at Rockfield Studios in 1979, eventually appearing on the Various Artists 2000 album Family Tree
It made its way into the live set for the UK Winter 1979 tour, and its first recorded appearance was on the 1980 Live Seventy Nine album. A studio version was soon recorded and released on the 1980 album Levitation, and a special version was also recorded for single release, but Bronze Records declined to issue it releasing "Who's Gonna Win The War?" instead.

  • Glad that Levitation is being re-issued this year with extra tracks at a reasonable price-all albums from 1976 Astounding Sounds onwards-only previously available via E-Bay at rip-off prices

  • Thx for the Info NJD, I'm Working on a HD for the tube version of this video [same video]

  • Have always been a Hawkwind fan since time - this tune is odd because years later i found myself living in Canada - reminds me of driving every morning the highway 40 in Montreal est and the also the tunnels - soooo much - prophetic songwritting

  • this is what its all about, top tune and trippy visuals.. nice

  • @dean5371 his reminds me of my first trip when i was 14 it was mushrooms givin to me by bikers and they put on levitation and masters of the universe albums. but this hollows me out with nostalgia listing to it now. i think all the tripping when your young makes you depressed in later life. its like an over the top nostalgia feeling

  • Loved the sh*t out of this album! Ginger Baker on drums is seriously whoop ass!

  • this makes my heart break all my hawk trippers have died or gone insane

  • Now, THIS is fucking fab!!!!!!

  • This always reminds me of the A40 in London, with a golden sunset in the background a view of the BT tower and the London Eye.

  • ive been telling people for years this is one of the best albums ever ,

  • I would give everything I own to be back for jusut one day to the first time I hread this song.
