  • Would this be a good first shotgun for trapshooting if it had a 28 inch barrel and a vented rib?

  • @Acgymast13 I don't shoot trap so I have no idea, sorry.

  • I have a question, does the ejector rail which holds the ejector spring help hold the barrel ?

  • @hustleandsnow Looking at the manual, it does look like it has something to do at least with aligning it. The barrel has two cutouts used to key/time the barrel correctly. I think most of what really holds it in though the tension provided by the magazine cap. Try it yourself, if the magazine cap is unscrewed you can just pull the barrel off with ease.

  • @exodipus you can shoot the gun without the magazine cap on. it uses tension between the loop around the magazine tube and the back of the barrel where it is in the receiver.but if you pull the action back without the magazine cap on the barrel will fall off. now keep in mind im not saying take off the cap and shoot. this is informational only. stay safe and take care.

  • @multigunlover Good information. I'm not sure where the original question came from, as you say nobody should try shooting it without the magazine cap in place.

  • @Acgymast13 coming from a 14 yearold trap shooter my first gun was the 870 and i will say that that gun would not work for a frist time trap shooter, its not to easy to get the sights lined up (bulky) but if you have shot trap b4 if might be ok for you, but amazing gun for a beginner...

  • It's the bolt carrier.

  • @Acgymast13 yes use a full choke

  • @exodipus I shot trap with my 870 28inch ribbed barrel. My first time, did good, but hat was one clay at a time. A pump may be too slow for two or more clays at once.

  • @exodipus we own several of them and they are great for shootin trap!!!!!

  • @Acgymast13 this is a great all around gun. It will defiantly do trap or anything. It might be slow for other shooting sports like skeet or sporting clays. Just remember to clean it after every day of shooting!
