Copyright or Censorship?

It is my contention that spurious accusations of copyright infringement can be used to suppress videos that are not liked, in certain circles, and that YouTube's reporting procedure favours the accuser over the accused, who is not even given the minimum amount of information necessary to be able to challenge any claim, let alone a false one.

Such attacks can be so random and almost unanswerable, that I have given up worrying about them. Since this video was uploaded, all of my videos have included a copyright disclaimer at the beginning, and I have had no further trouble. This is not to say that the copyright notice has worked, but it may have had some deterrent affect.

After having just been the victim of a copyright claim, I'd like to say that I'm grateful that you uploaded this, however it's also important that YouTube's policies and behavior may be more due to sloppiness and/or laziness on YouTube's part, rather than deliberately trying to play and/or cater to Big Brother. Still, whether it's carelessness or deliberate corporate cowardice, it's simply deplorable to make it that easy for plaintiffs and that hard for defendants.

Very well said. The process by which one person can get another person's video taken down is far too simple, and is heavily biased towards frivolous or fraudulent complainants.

Copyright laws are there to prevent other people from making money on the true owners of an intellectual property, not to stifle open debate on subjects like 9/11 or the Holocaust.

They threaten to take down your account for filling in the form with false information..

BUT will the youtube moderators ever CHECK that information, those hundred thousands of copyright claims, if you filled in your real name ,will they check where you live, if your phone number is right, or your name? I don't think so. Youtube is tryin' to scare people in an odd way... Who benifits?

You ask some interesting questions, to which I have no answers. I will not fill in a form with false information, on the basis that if I am caught in a lie, then there goes whatever credibility I may have in other areas. The problem is that people who are interested in suppressing a video have no such constraints. YouTube, by refusing to act on my discovery that the phone number given in the complaint was false, have shown their double standards.

Another worthy effort. Your work is incredibly important as is any voice spoken against the new age inquisition. Copyright laws are wrong, they stifle innovation and if such laws were in place during the enlightenment we wouldn't be much smarter than dark-age Europeans today. Patents and Copyright laws are ridiculous and contradict the principles of both Capitalism and Communism. There should be at least a limit on copyright time, a short limit no more than 5 years of complete monopoly over the idea. I think JewTube does this just to censor people whose opinion they disagree with.
