a new waterfall was created from a flash flood in Havasu canyon. This was from the same storm that caused the mass evacuations of all of Supai. Watch the lower left and the waterfall is flows over the ledge in a matter of seconds

  • I heard Navajo isn't even still there. Is it true?

  • thats the rumor. I havent been back yet but should be able to get there later this month or in august. Im curious to see what it looks like

  • That's incredible. That's only the first small flood that hit. Where was this?

  • Oh wait. This was Sunday? I'm surprised you guys still had light. About where was this?

  • this was on saturday before the big floods. the flash flood came from somewhere else- I dont know where from, but it was about halfway in between beaver and mooney. we just happened to be hiking back to camp when we saw this wall of water explode over the ridge at the very top. it then took about 15 mins for it to hit the havasu creek

  • @jonnytang I was there on 8/3/2011 and Navajo is gone. You can see where it was but the river just floats on by about 200' away from where the falls used to be.

  • @nates4594 half of it is gone, still beautiful

  • nates4954 i was just there, it took out the right hand side of navajo. it's still beautiful and the new falls are nice too, they are still working on repair on the trail, they had a flash flood this last july (2010) and had to close the canyon, for, i think, 2 weeks?

  • I just got back. The new waterfall, "Rock Falls" is now looking pretty nice, it's about 30 feet and you can jump off of it.

  • It's not there anymore. The flood changed the river channel and the water flows around where Navajo used to be. There are two new waterfalls on the path the river now takes. It will be awhile for them to start looking real pretty but they definitely have potential. Still, it's sad to see something like that go. I'm glad I got to see it when I did.

  • The Grand Canyon, Arizona

  • Damn. I wish I was there!
