  • you know, you can also try feeding blended food. our dog has megaesophagus, and we just blend up a home diet and he eats it like a normal dog (in a bowl, on the floor). if we give him a couple of pats, he swallows just fine. he just needs the food to be shake-consistency. (this is after feeding him with a bottle for the 1st yr of his life). just a suggestion, may make life easier for everyone, although he seems to be happy and fine :D

  • Thank you for your comment but Dasher's condition is so severe that even drinking water is a problem for him which is why my aunt uses the chair for him instead.

Trust me, if there were an easier way, they would be doing it ;)

  • you are amazing, i dont get how some people are as great as you and there are others who beat, starve, neglect, kill their pets.

  • Your video has given me strength to know that while my doggie Sugar is not in pain, and what I have to do is help her eat and drink, I will do so! I will know when it's time.. she will let me know! Joining an on-line support group has helped me too with lots of advice.

  • My dog was just diagnosed with megaesophagus recently and we just built a bailey chair for him. Can anyone tell me how you can attach the harness so the dog can't get out? My dog is a cocker/king charles spaniel mix and he's really underweight from the condition and we need him to gain weight back because he looks so thin ;'( We have to hold him in the chair because he tries desperately to get out and we need to attach him in there.

  • @BittersweetManor I have a giant breed dog - 155 lbs of Lab/St. Bernard that eats in a Bailey Chair. Please see my YouTube video Megasophagus Mick 5. I hope your dog is still doing okay and this will help.

  • I work at a boarding Kennel and I am currently working on a megaesphogus awareness video and was wondering if you would mind if I used a short clip from this video within mine. Please let me know!

  • How sweet. I have a special needs cat. I love to see responsible pet parents taking good care of their special needs pets. This video is adorable.

  • Our Sam has the same problem - very severe. We were just diagnosed. At the moment, we feed him with the dish on a table top and him standing up on his hind legs. That seems to be working, but this chair seems like something we might consider investing in.
