A short video shot in the General Motors Trim Plant on Lauzon Road around 1995 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The plant was soon after, sold to the now defunct Peregrine Automotive Systems a newly formed company at the time. Peregrine Automotive was a producer of components for the automotive market. It was made up of components of Delphi that were severed off in late 1996. Peregrine didn't end up doing well with the Trim Plant and sold it off to Lear Seating who ran it to a skeleton crew personnel until mid 2008 when ll was sold to a London-based developer Shmuel Farhi. Farhi is presently demolishing the former Lear Corporation plant on Lauzon Road, clearing the way for a massive development that could top $100 million and include a hotel, restaurants, retail outlets, apartment towers and senior-citizen residences.

how come GM company is not detroit, america

  • @bestamerica Detroit is a ghost town and the quality was better in Canada, does that answer your question?

  • chinese workers are far more efficient.

  • Well sure, at a dollar a day, (if that) it's easy to be efficient , but slaves beat em hands down. You, my friend win the golden cookie!

  • I made a tribute video to this old plant and it's employees where I spent 15 years of my working life. Hope you enjoy it!

  • Wow, does this bring back memories! What incite,(whether you knew it or not)this is an incredible piece of documented history.Who would of ever imaged with-in 15 yrs. of this video we would experience G.M. pulling out of Windsor - With the closure of the "Trim" and Transmission Plants(slated June 2010) and thus eliminating the existance of CAW Local 1973 - SHAME.

The good thing is the memories and people of the Trim will always be Family.Thanks.

  • Ha ha 1:40 guy wearing a FORD shirt . No seriously I worked there briefly , then in and out as a truck driver during the Peregrine days and Lear till the end . To bad as it was a great place , with great people . At least my mom retired from their before its demise .

  • the good seats were GM made !, the lear seats were the "cheap seats" :P lear started skimping on materials & quality, the lear seats that hyundai used did not even hold up as well as the ones made in korea by dae won kang hup, and those are not that good either ! the GM seats that were in the cadillacs that were exported to korea for daewoo had no issues with them at all, unlike newer lear made models :(

  • they are now tearing down the plant
