I agree with you Joanna1943. I love this movie. I like the way it shows the evolution of personality with time. We are all victims to circumstance and history, this is one of the few movies that shows we change with each decade, but if we are lucky, we can always find something to fall in love with even in those who "knew us when."

God I know what you mean...I am experiencing that very feeling now. I have fallen helplessly in love with someone against all plans, reason, logic! Believe me...it happens. The minute he held my hand, I knew I was home...only to no place I've ever been before. I have felt guilty because I love my husband and he passed away, and now I love this person and it is such a deep love, I cannot describe it!

Jaridd I watched it this morning on MoviePlex too! I LOVE THIS MOVIE. I hadn't seen it in years and it has always been one of my favorites. Alda and Burstyn are perfection, the script is genius, and the direction wonderful. Marvin Hamlisch wrote the music and Bergman wrote the lyrics, I think. I hope they rerun it soon - I missed the very beginning and want to sit and watch the whole thing again.

The only Alan Alda movie I will ever love. Wonderful premise. And there's nothing but love I have for Ellen Burstyn's character. I pray someday Hollywood will re-capture this kind of movie magic.
