I was finally able to upgrade my Dell Dimension XPS from early 1998. I maxed out the memory to 384mb, installed a 32mb video card, put in a better sound card, and a fairly new 40gb hard drive. It also has a 233MHz Intel Pentium II processor with the MMX technology. It also runs Windows 2000 pretty good.

  • christ almighty feel sorry for you having to use that

  • @jackzvid If you watched more of my videos, then you probably wouldn't jump to conclusion like that! This isn't my main computer. It's way to slow to do anything regular today, like watch YouTube videos.

  • How about puting linux on your old pc. Dam small linux would be good. or maybe even puppy linux. You could still surf the web with those and other things as well. I was going to say I just updated my Dell Dimension xps T500 to T700r. But win I see yours was 233mhz dam thats slower than mine :). Nice job Keeping it a live.

  • @thebighat99 I have never used the Linux operating system in my life and I have no desire to start. And yes, it is very hard to kill these computers. They were built like tanks!

  • I finally figured out how to put Windows 98 on my Dell Dimension XPS, so I wanted to let you know so maybe you could try it. What I did was formatted the hard drive with a Windows XP disc, since I figured out that the formatter was the problem with 98 not installing. After that I just told it not to format during the 98 setup, and it installed fine! Tell me if that works

  • @vwestlife Windows 2000 does show the processor. Windows 98 doesn't.

  • @Mrtechguy94 It still works.

  • @computerkid1416 lol the biggest problem was no memory though!:)

  • You know what's weird? I can't install 98 on my Dell Dimension either. Do you have any idea why? I'm still stumped.

  • @delliswierd Nice

  • I have a very similar model, except mine might be from 1999, I'm not quite sure. Mine is an XPS T600. Dells were very, very good in the 90s, I love them.

  • @duranmedine Yeah, and probably not for much longer lol
