Rashad a.k.a. Soul Nubian is an urban dance artist, choreographer and creative facilitator who has been a part of urban dance culture on the west coast for twelve years, where he has researched and developed ways to bring underground dance to the classical performance stage. Rashad has worked with the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, performed in the Rennie Harris Illdelph Festival, and was an emerging artist in The Black Choreographers Festival 2005. Rashad provides urban dance technique and inquiry in a variety of workshop forms for local schools and community organizations in the Bay Area. He is currently the 2008 scholarship recipient of the Moving On Center's Participatory Arts and Somatic Research Program, where he is studying the integration of somatics and urban dance.
