A very short clip on Francis Drake's arrival in England in 1580.
Drake and the Pelican arrived in Plymouth on 26 September 1580, ending an astonishing three-year voyage around the world. The wealth they bought was overwhelming; the Spanish ambassador noted that 20 tons of silver had been placed in the Tower along with boxes of gold and pearls. The crow shared around £40,000 each with Drake pocketing an extra £10,000. The amount of all the wealth is uncertain but the Spanish ambassador believed it was around a million and a half pesos.

  • uncharted.

  • Drake wasnt just a brilliant Mariner of his time, but loyal servant, patriot and lover of England and its queen.

Impressive haul he took here, but there was another voyage he made on the Iberian coast where he captured 1700 tons of Barrel staves, enough to make thousands of Barrels for containing provisions, and much more besides.

But his contribution against the Spanish Armada was his finest moment.

  • Wait my grandma is a genealogist and she said that I'm a direct descendant of Sir Francis Drake (and no I'm not an Uncharted fanboy) so does that mean that I'll inherit all of his shit or what? I'm just curious...

  • @AngloSaxonBastart ...he was a thieve, a looter, a kidnapper, an assassin,,by any accounts....he should have been hang from the tallest tree in spain....of course, and that harpy of elizabeth could have join her.

  • @AngloSaxonBastart Finest moment for Drake was finding the south west passage........... He changed the map, and went down to where the two oceans meet..............What ever he did for England, we know him as the one who divided the map of the old world.............. He came all the way round South America and landed on California.............. Wow........... What a journey!
