  • not a bad song. dont understand a word he's singing.

  • @naughtynurseh Me neither! Rowland was always one of those artists I could never understand....I almost think there must be another language he's using at times. Good stuff though!

  • in tents

  • Show me them now

    Those wild little boys

The ones that spelled trouble and stole all their toys

    Young boys with contempt

Dreams and schemes in their eyes

Strong, rich in spirit, milk stains on their ties

  • A little while later the first ones to smoke,

I stood there in awe laughing loud at their jokes

Tinny transistors Hong Kong made and this week's parade

If they'd accept me I'd have given anything

    Show me them now

Let me look and see how they've grown up now.

Stolen wristwatches and big studded rings

Tall talk of girls and all that kind of thing

  • They just had something you know what I mean

A wisdom and style like I'd never seen

They helped me get older, pulled me through each bad phase

Show me them now,the boys from the days .

Show me them now let me look see how they've grown up now.

  • At their best.

  • Dexys never used to do interviews. instead Rowland would write essays as press releases. In one of them I distinctly remember him saying 'these are the words, but they're not necessarily all in the song'. Prime example is There There My Dear, but this is another one. It's about the kids he grew up with, and came with the tag line 'even dirty tramps started off as school kids'.

  • i know every lyric!...heard it a lot of times though!

  • under rated track

  • great tune!

  • haven't heard this in years - 1981 to be precise (gulp).
