delighted for Dream Ahead, but if Hoof It had just managed to get his nose in front of Bated Breath and finish second, he would have been awarded the race. But because he finished third, he wasn't. I'm not objecting to the rules and the way they're interpreted now - usually common sense gets the nod, and if Dream Ahead had been thrown out Hoof It still wouldn't have got the race - but you'd have to think that if they'd all run straight, Hoof It would have won.

@GBeret83 At the furlong pole it looked like Baited Breath was going to run right past him but seems to get checked? Really gutsy effort from Dream Ahead though. A bargain buy indeed.
i have backed hoof it all season as he was one of my horses to follow for 2011 but have to admit i deserted him for dream ahead for this race purely because i think this seasons three year olds are a a very good bunch-
obviously there is frankel plus strong suit, dubawi gold, excelebration and dream ahead too.
in saying this hoof it was an unlucky loser and i wonder if, given the chance, he can defy 10" 5" in the ayr gold cup??
But I must say, even though his run in the St James's Palace looked a lot better than his Dewhurst mile did. There's no doubt, Dream Ahead is a sprinter. Who's seen to his best effect at 6f. Dream Ahead came through the Keenland yearling sale in Lexington, Ky., and was sold for $11,000 dollars a yearling. Now, he's a 4-time G1 winner at 6f. Not even completely through his 3yr.old season!! Talk about a bargain buy and a half!!
An awesome race with an incredible finish!! I thought for sure that Dream Ahead had thrown this race away by wandering across the track. Watching the race in real time, It really did look to me like he got nailed on the wire by Hoof It. Who, of all thing's, ended up 3rd in the photo!! LOL Watching in real time, I thought for sure the result was going to come back Hoof It -Win, Dream Ahead-2nd, Bated Breath-3rd. Show's what I know? LOL.
