Woow this phenomenon is amazing, I have seen once but hardly appreciated when video film, video or friend, is even accompanied by photographs!

They are not very rare but it's rare that people see them because observers don't think to look opposite the Sun to look for them. Same situation as a Sun halo. Most people naturaly don't look at the Sun and miss these too.

Thanks supercellstorm. This is only the 2nd time in which I have seen this phenomena. Pity about the compression on the clip. The rays are more obvious on the high res footage.
