  • storypeddler - do you believe what Paul said in Romans 5:17 - that we have received the gift of righteousness? Do you believe what he said in 1 Cor 3:16-17 -that God's temple is holy and is what you ARE? You still sin because of the flesh. Do righteous people sin? Ask Lot? Peter called him a "righteous man" but you surely couldn't tell it by some of his actions in the OT. You are confusing identity with behavior. ID comes from BIRTH, not behavior. 1 Cor 1:30 says He IS our righteousness.

  • The problem with this argument---with ALL the arguments in this series---is the debate over semantics. Yes, we are now righteous, but that righteousness is NOT OUR OWN! God only sees me as righteous because He gave me righteousness. The righteous is His, not mine, and I only have it because He gave it to me. My own righteousness is as filthy rags. Left to my own devices, I will inevitably return to sin without the inner power of the Holy Spirit. Read Romans chapters 3-5. It is HIS righteousness.

  • Those who see the truth in the Bible but can't imagine how it could be true often used the "it's semantics" argument. It's not semantics. We ARE righteous. It IS our righteousness because Christ gave it to us. His is ours. I agree with everything you said in your comment, except your view that God only sees us as righteous. He sees us that way because that's the way it is.Could He only see it that way and it not be true? Of course it's HIs righteousness! And, in His grace, He has given it to us.

  • @natlawful Sin was not imputed to me. Adam brought sin into THE WORLD, not into me. I am guilty of my own sin as are you. The guilt of a father is not passed to his children. Everyone is repsonsible for their own sin. They are sinners because they have willfully sinned after having reached the age of accountability.

  • @RobertMOdell read romans bro, sin was imputed to you by adam, you did nothing to deserve it. the same way if you are in Christ, His rightousness has benn imparted to you, you did nothing to deserve it. good news innit bro?

  • As the Bible says, I BECAME a sinner (by sinning). I wasn't born a sinner. Sin isn't a substance carried in sperm.

  • You could have atleast explained to me where I might have been mistaken instead of blocking me sir, arrogance was not a loving way of telling me I might have been wrong.

  • I think th ebible teaches people were made to be sinners by *imputation* of Adam's guilt.Slaves to a position of unrighteousness. Being a "slave of sin" is the consequence of that....People are made righteous by imputation too. Slaves to a position of righteousness. The consequence of that is slavery to a new righteous heart....People aren't justified by having a new righteous heart, but by being imputed righteousness without works as *ungodly*, Rom4v5.But they do get a new heart.

  • In Philippians 3:9, Paul clearly says he hopes above all things to be found in Christ, possessing a righteousness NOT his own, but the righteousness of God. While we remain in this fallen flesh, we'll never be righteous. Not until we are ultimately and totally redeemed from the curse of sin and death, when sin is done away with once and for all, will we be righteous. If I were righteous now, I wouldn't still sin. The righteousness counted for me is that of my Savior, Jesus Christ and Him alone.

  • It's about time someone taught the right theology! "Positional truth" is a misnomer---it's wrong theology. We ARE literally righteous! Good video by Dr. McVey.
