Not quite. Mischief Makers was a platformer which is an entirely different genre and Ikaruga is a slow paced, challenging shooter. Bangai-O only has the challenging shooter part, and there are a lot of puzzle elements too.

Anyway, Gai is awesome.

I know that, but I meant it has a certain feel to it. The way the character controls looks like Mischief Makers and the bullet action looks like Ikaruga. Also, I think the music sounds a lot like Mischief Makers. Pardon me for commenting my opinion on a game.

Not really. There is an intentional pause after a big EX attack, but otherwise it moves fairly smoothly.

The sequel on the other hand, now THAT lags.

The slowdown doesn't hurt either game.

I think bangai-o should come to the Virtual Console, I would buy it, I loved Sin and Punishment, I just love Treasure.

one of the very few games that put me back in the video game scenario... :)
