This video is based on Srimad Bhagwath Puran: "STORY OF SATI".
Daksha,Parvati's father has ill-feelings towards Shiva and ridicules him :"He lives in filthy places like crematoriums and his companions are the ghosts and demons. He ornaments his body with a garland of skulls and bones. Therefore only in name is he Siva, or auspicious; actually, he is the most mad and inauspicious creature."
Daksha performs sacrificial fire ceremony without inviting Lord Shiva and Parvati.Parvati insists on joining sacrificial festival at her fathers palace despite the reluctance of Lord Shiva.
Parvati proceeds to the ceremony alone. Present in the arena of sacrifice, Sati saw that there were no oblations for her husband, Lord Siva. Next she realized that not only had her father failed to invite Lord Siva, but when he saw Lord Siva's exalted wife, Daksa did not receive her either. She was very angry and sorrowful. She burns herself with the fire of Yoga!!!Lord Shiva's fury knew no bounds when he learnt about the fate of Parvati. The entire Universe trembled with Lord Shiva's Anger. Thus Lord Siva, being extremely angry, pressed his lips with his teeth and immediately snatched from his head a strand of hair which blazed like electricity or fire. He stood up at once, laughing like a madman, and dashed the hair to the ground.
A fearful black demon "Virabhadra",as high as the sky and as bright as three suns combined was thereby created, his teeth very fearful and the hairs on his head like burning fire. He had thousands of arms, equipped with various weapons, and he was garlanded with the heads of men.
He sent "Virabhadra" ,who wrecks Daksha's scarificial ceremony and beheads him.
Bramha and other gods proceed to Kailash and appease Lord Shiva.
Lord shiva ,the ocean of mercy, was pleased and he said "My dear father, Brahma, I do not mind the offenses created by the demigods. Because these demigods are childish and less intelligent, I do not take a serious view of their offenses, and I have punished them only in order to right them.Since the head of Daksa has already been burned to ashes, he will have the head of a goat."
When the animal's head was fixed on the body of King Daksa, Daksa was immediately brought to consciousness, and as he awakened from sleep, the King saw Lord Shiva standing before him.At that time, when Daksa saw Lord Siva, who rides upon a bull, his heart, which was polluted by envy of Lord Siva, was immediately cleansed, just as the water in a lake is cleansed by autumn rains.
Daksha repented for his misdeeds and begged for forgiveness to the Almighty Shiva.
The sacrificial ceremony was completed with the blessings of Shiva and Sri Hari.

  • I love Lord Shiva! Thanks a lot for making and uploading the excellent vid! Actually, I have to confess: I almost cried when I learned of the story of Sati a while ago. And I almost could feel his broken heart and loneliness... sobsobsob!
