  • Perhaps when much of the arctic has melted and sea levels have risen to submerge much of Manhattan, people will start thinking about how incredibly wasteful and ignorant we are with respect to our treatment of the environment.

  • I agree that the the American population is distributed in a way that would make rail transport significantly different than systems that already exist in other countries. But I don't think that these differences preclude the development of better organized mass transit systems, in which rail lines could play a significant role. One could imagine superfast maglev trains connecting every major city in America, with smaller light rail systems running to surrounding suburban areas.

  • Using fuel-efficient cars (or even going without one), recycling, solar power, etc. etc. etc. - all these methods are simply hacking away at the branches instead of dealing with the root problem...overpopulation

  • I think that most people are- just look at the rise of interest in organic produce, alternative energy etc. What I think is a bigger issue is protectionism within large corporations that fear a loss of profit to other newer, more environmentally friendly companies. For instance- lobbyists from the automobile and aeroplane industries are largely preventing the development of a much more efficient train mass transit system in the United States.

  • Riz, you have a nice signature. lol

  • i use bicycle instead of car, now a days i often use recyclable bags, i am trying to fix a solor power on my home, i tell all my friends dont contribute anything to the global warming,

  • If the time comes when we get the flood we are in world war 3 maybe world war 4 and our European economies are flat broke anyway. Just because of those that are in power did not wanted to change there policies of making money of others. They kill us first before they think a bout inventing and sharing cheep green energy. I was born here and ill die here. No need to move some where else

  • As long they have nuclear bombs and test them and make earth sick, and the Americans like G Bush stick there head in oil and the petrol-dollar. I am not changing the light bulb nor I like to pay more tax because I try to live.

  • The real question is whether the military-industrial-media complex is willing to, not us.
