Finally got a rare shot of the 2011 Heil MultiTask SL. This truck was brought to our district for two days of use. One day on trash and another day on recycle both are tote routes. I did not get the chance to drive it but I talked with the driver and he prefered the Automated Labrie to the Heil because it was alot smoother but thats only with two days of use.
In my opinion this truck looks great. Large 1.7 cubic yard hopper with low loading height for manual collection. Arm joystick and controls easy to learn and use. Only downfall to this model was the placement of the feul tank atop of the motor. Seem dangerous to refuel standing above motor

  • How big was the body on this? Heil recently started building custom manual mods of these for us that are split 50/50 and feature a larger hopper that accepts two carts at a time. However they don't seem as large as the new Labrie 50/50 splits we have.

  • @ACX009 I believe it was a 28 yard body

  • Looks like they are trying to copy Labrie by painting the arm yellow. I would like to see this truck in action. Like the other guys said, at least they are trying to do better. Good looking truck! Thanks for all you posts...

  • @supergarbageman I hope we do get at least one just to see it in action. It must be industry standard that tote dumpers and automated arms are school bus yellow.

  • Nice truck. I don't think its as good as a McNeilus M/A or Labrie Expert Helping Hand, but a nice try by Heil. How have you been? Still driving the split body side loader?

  • @mcbombting At least Heil is putting the effort in. I am no long driving the Side Loader. Back in Jan we picked up a new town contract and I decided to take it over so I now have the same truck and same routes every week. I now drive a 2010 frontend resi which was put on the road back in April. I have video of it and just waiting to finish editing it all. Maybe in 2 weeks i'll have it done. Whats up over out west there?
