  • Does Sergei use the the 156R with the enlarge bell now or the standard bell?

  • @Ci5D Enlarged!

  • @Ci5D I bought My "Wind Cello" today. 156R

  • @Ci5D 4-valve enlarged ? Just kidding :) Enjoy your lovely instrument!

  • Wow awesome! I always assumed he had more C trumpets and D's and such but that's pretty neat that he plays mostly on Bb! Sergei should perform in Las Vegas Nevada in the US. I'm gonna go see if he has a website with tour dates on it! A master class from him would be very cool, even if it's a different language haha still helpful I'm sure.

  • @davidfromcali

Thank you for your comment. Sergei announces the tour dates on his official facebook page.

There's a master class nearly after every concert. BTW Sergei speaks excellent English and French.

  • Can someone please explain how the 4th valve is used verses the 3 valve horns. I am curious what notes you would use it for.

  • @kruzzik Yes, I agree. I met him a number of years ago when he was on the tour of the United States and his English was fine.

  • trumpet master

  • Those aren't flugelhorns. I know, that's what guys call them these days, but they're not. They're Infantry-model Saxhorns. Courtois has been making Saxhorns since about 1855, when Antoine (Adolphe) Sax lost the exclusive rights to manufacture. Courtois has never manufactured flugelhorns. Real flugelhorns have a bell that's almost a rimless funnel, with rotary valves. See Lidl's LFH 733 as an example.
