@pyr666 Well I'm on my second university degree on this now, but basically all you need to do is have patience and approach the problem with patience rather than quitting the moment it sounds bad and saying "oh I need another VST". The point of this video really is to showcase that you don't need to spend a lot of money to get a decent sound, because all the different products out there do all the same things, but people really only buy them because they want to be given some presets.

Or you could record a electric guitar... seems easier.

@Zejex I agree, however not everyone has or knows how to play guitar, and it's also quite useful for laying down temporary guitar before you record real audio. I myself don't ever use Slayer, but it's still a cool little VST.

@pyr666 Once you've got the basic ideas behind synthesis and MIDI, it won't take you long to understand how to use basically any plug-in and be creative. The main thing I want to stress is don't expect to always be given good sounding settings out of the box.
