A view of the New York exhibit in Tobu World Square, Japan, where famous scenes from around the world (especially tourist traps) have been reproduced at 1/25th scale by a film special effects company. I was amazed at the playful and at times even moving attention to detail here, in what was the highlight of the exhibit..

Also, please see 'A World in Miniature' for a slideshow of my photos of the exhibit.

  • This is by Isao Tomita, a japanese composer who made electronic versions of classical music. I thought it might suit this, as it is high-tech Japanese recreations of famous landmarks!

  • Man, it's hard to find a few 1/25 scale people; and here, they have a whole city's worth!! Kool!!!

  • I totally agree. Just like the music of Wendy Carlos (known for her contribution to the Clockwork Orange soundtrack) taught me to understand and love Beethoven, Isao Tomita helped me to understand Mussorgsky with his Pictures at an Exhibition. I sometimes think that classical music may die out if there's no-one left to synthesize it.

  • Thanks, Pharos Studios and Cricket Records! Actually when I was younger, Tomita was my introduction to Classical music as I only liked the electronic sound. I still find he has a unique take on it, though I appreciate the originals more now.
