@MrDubstepchicken Yes, I dd. It stayed prominently displayed on it's own shelve in my living room for many years and was frequently commented on. Buddies that came over preferring to not wear helmets would get very uneasy around it. I think I changed a couple of minds about wearing helmets. So the smashed and scarred helmet probably saved more than just my own life.

@MrDubstepchicken LOL, yepper, helmets are good. I crashed at 80 on my bike years ago and, other than a headache, my head and face were alright. However, the very light jacket and slacks weren't enough to protect me from major road rash all over my precious body. :) Helmet took some major damage and was never used again. So today, if I were to do this, I would remember that lesson and wear heavy body armor along with my helmet. :)

I envy you your adventure and this waterway. However, I gotta say you're gonna suffer for no protection. Personally, as an old man, I would wear ALL the armor I could before I pushed off so I could concentrate on a great ride. Can't believe some jerk dumped heavy trash/rocks on the waterway.
