http://www.SukieBaxter.com Mid Back Pain - Strengthen your mid back to get rid of upper back and neck pain. This is an easy exercise that you can do at home--no need for special equipment or weights.

Mid back pain is a result of sitting hunched at the computer or in front of a television. The muscles of your mid back become weak and the muscles in the front of your body - your pectorals and anterior shoulder muscles - get overly tight, resulting in mid back pain.

To eliminate mid back pain, strengthen the large muscles of the mid back, between the shoulder blades. This helps to balance tightness in the front of the shoulders and chest.

  • This is really interesting sukie, adds a new angle on strengthening that area. Where did you learn this or did you come up with it yourself, if you don't mind me asking.

  • @ShaolinHero1 A yoga teacher did something similar to assist in back bends and I noticed how sore the muscles of my mid-back were the following day. Sometimes I stumble on some really hot stuff!

  • @SukieBaxterWellnes Yeah I noticed you've got a few neat tricks :)

  • @ShaolinHero1 Yup :-)

  • thankyou!

  • Thank You. This is the area of inprisonment when it comes to my flesh, the worst of my problems... A bad back restrains one from quality of life, to what measure or extent totally depends upon each individual. 0 out of 10 for me when it comes to the physical world. Also, your right that this area is a difficult one, so I thank you for the help.

  • @FruityFunk16 Hey there...so, without looking at you moving, I can't tell you for certain what's going on. However, this sounds like you might have a misalignment in your spine and rib cage that's causing pinching in the ribs just below your shoulder blades when you move. Generally, when my clients have this issue, I recommend spine and thorax mobility exercises and anti-inflammatory supplements such as magnesium and MSM. Rolfing or other structural bodywork is also very helpful.

  • I find that whenever I do a twist to open up the chest in chair pose that I have to be really careful because there will be somewhat of an uncomfortable, burning sting in the middle of my back. It doesn't hurt too much, but I do not like experiencing it much. Does the uncomfortable, burning sting in my the mid of my back, just underneath the shoulder blades, mean that the muscles there are weak? And if so, is this the right exercise to practice for it?
