Designed in conjunction with Randall May, the patented Acoustic EQ snare drum is several drums in one. The secret is a venting system that allows drummers to select the exact amount of air leaving the drum via an internal slide valve. Not only does the EQs venting system drastically affect the sound, but also its feel and response. The drum features our Collectors 10 + 6 maple shell configuration and can be ordered in any Custom Shop Satin Oil finish and drum hardware color option.

Tighter tuning and thicker ply heads can take down unwanted overtones. Have you seen our tuning video with John Good yet? A lot of helpfull info for tuning. Check the link below to watch and feel free to get back to us with any questions you have!

Hey DW, I got a question that I really need your help with. I'm considering between an Acoustic EQ and Super solid snare 14 x 5.5 1/2". I currently have a Pearl Reference 14 x 5 20 ply wood snare. But it doesn't give me the depth I want because it's just 5". Out of the 2 which would give more depth without losing the crack? And is the acoustic eq really worth the extra money?

Great question! The Super Solid will have all the crack you are needing with warmth of the solid maple shell. The EQ is different because you can control the amount of air leaving the snare making it more of a few different types of snares in one. Both will do the job but if you are looking for a more specific sound go with the Super Solid. Hope that helps!

Well that's a tough questions because Steven's has quite a collection of snare drums but most recently he ordered a 6.5X14 Stainless Steel snare. Sorry we couldn't be more specific. :(
