The second of four video clips. A desert hike in Central Washington Memorial Day Weekend with llamas. The Staubs and the Lances enjoyed reconnecting once again this past holiday. The main event was a hike with llamas into a hidden haven tucked away amidst fields, farms, and flat sage brush landscape. This beautiful treasure is home to several lakes that quietly lay at the feet of volcanic basalt cliffs, providing a home to a vast variety of birds and plants. A waterfall surrounded by lush green vegetation offers an extraordinary contrast against the desert panorama one sees as they hike down into the wide canyon. The sounds of a bubbling creek accompanies travelers offering its coolness every so often, enjoyed especially in the heat of the day. At the bottom, one finds that much more lays beyond what they perhaps thought to be the final destination. Trails continue out into the flat, dusty horizon leading to another destination, Ancient Lakes at which a towering waterfall looks spectacular cascading over the basaltic cliffs. We did not travel on to Ancient Lakes, but the Lances, at one time, have made acquaintance with this area last summer. We hope you enjoy the video clips.
