Improvisation from Germany this time.

This piece was extemporised on the organ in St Matthias Kirche, Berlin by Dr. Jörg Abbing. I found this on the web somewhere, have no idea where, but don't believe its available on any CD. Dr Abbing studied with Prof.Almut Rößler, Prof.Volker Hempfling, Gaston Litaize, private study with André Isoir and improvisation with Naji Hakim. Since 1995 he has been the organist at the Stiftskirche St.Arnual in Saarbrücken.

The organ in St Matthias Kirche was built by Seifert in 1958 (with recent additions), it has 112 ranks spread over 4 manuals, all in a highly resonant space, split into large chambers and small cases either side of the west entrance. You may notice the stereo effect from the 8' chamade at the beginning and end of the piece, that stop is split between two cases either side of the west window.
