  • The Blades deserve every bit of respect they have done some amazing work in the past few years, just to call them copycats, means you don't know nuffin!

  • RBOutfield21, I know all of the Musical Blades and The Jolly Rogers and they are ALL amazing guys! Singing pirates? Yes! However, their music and styles are different! There is plenty of room for lovin' both bands and it doesn't mean you have to be any less loyal to one of them. They are all friends with each other... why can't you be?

  • I used to think the Blades were just knockoffs of the JRs...until (like Patch said) I actually saw their show! I was blown away by their talent and humor...and when I actually got to know them and discovered they're all fantastic guys, I was hooked! I'm a huge fan of both the JRs and the MBs, and while they're both pirate groups, that's just about as similar as they get. It's not hurting either band to be a fan of both!

  • I love them guys there so awesome I love that's I get to know them cause of my daddy there just so awesome there my fav band

  • I've seen both MB and JR at KCRF and BOTH are talented groups.

  • You're right about one thing... they indeed came first. In fact I believe they're the originators of modern pirate music. And yes, we are similar. As in we both dress as pirates, tell jokes, act silly, and sing songs. Similarities can be found in hundreds of different bands throughout hundreds of different genres. But yes, they came first. And they're a great group of guys... on and off the stage! :)

  • I have seen your shows....many times. And have seen the JRs as well. And it sure seems like very similar shows. Im not saying you guys aren't good.....but you are a lot like the Jolly Rogers and they came first.

  • @RBOutfield21 - Just watched the video above again. Old. First gig with Chuey. Only 3 people in that video still remain in the Musical Blades. Though it is a song I wrote, and one we still do, to say that's a copycat of the JR's is like saying Stairway to Heaven sounds like a Lynard Skynard song. ;) However, I am a copycat of my neighbor, Bob, who like him I wear jeans, a t-shirt, and often whistle when I mow the front yard.... Though even with him I don't whistle the same song.

  • @RBOutfield21 - LOL - I usually don't acknowledge this, but it's been a long time since I've heard it. We used to get this a lot back when I first started the Musical Blades as a singing show in '05. 95% of the time coming from patrons & Entertainment Directors that had NOT seen our show, or heard our music. It was tough getting work. But like KCRF's "ED"/patrons said, once he/they finally watched a show, "you're not like the JR's at all".... We love the JR's, never tried to be like them though
