We are expanding the scope of the Big City Breakdown, taking on the streets of other big cities! The concept remains the same, where we are selecting the area's best local bands to play one unplugged song, outdoors while we film the performance in one running take. The Big City Breakdown is an opportunity to showcase the city's most talented bands outside of the traditional club and bar scene with no electricity, no editing magic, and no boundaries.
Zombies! Organize!! call on their minions to rise up with their electro-punk tunes, much like the fabled Pied Piper of Hamlin. When working with the band, I thought of a historic train in their hometown of Boca Raton, as the perfect place for the shoot. We met at the train station where the band boarded the old train, to what I envisioned as them embarking on a journey to gather the undead troops for their world takeover.
Knowing that Zombies! Organize!! are a band that rely heavily on electronic instrumentation like electro drum loops, samples, and synth sounds; we were interested to see what nuances they would bring to this unplugged session. The Zombies did not disappoint, Bobby had an arsenal of different instruments including two child size pianos, a shaker and a "keytar". Laura played an acoustic guitar and backed up Mary's lead vocals. They performed Koobface, a song that mocks silly humans who waste countless hours on their computers networking and such. The Zombies have cyber viruses and other tricks up their sleeves to foil our inane plans. Koobface is a clever song that gloriously adds a notch to the game score: Zombies one, humans zero!
These guys are so great!!
