They are in their early twenties: the next generation of leaders for Germany's economy. Just to get into the Jacobs University in Bremen, you have to have an impressive CV.

The best exam results and references are only part of the picture. "Interest in the outside world, other people, and other cultures is just as important", says university head Joachim Treusch. Communication skills are important here, as only a quarter of the students come from Germany. Undergraduates from 90 different countries work and live together here, with financial support available to those who can't afford the fees. It's an intense experience, with ten hours a day devoted to classes or studying, even at the weekend. Still there's time left over to get involved in the university's 60 student clubs andindulge in activities ranging from astronomy and martial arts to oriental dance. Wolf Gebhardt and Michael Wetzel follow three students through their daily routine in our 5-part series "Campus Bremen".
