I think we also have to remember, the point of this add is to change motorcyclist behaviour. If it doesn't achieve this, then it has failed. As a rider I find this add quite annoying and get into "defence mode" from watching it. I'm sure a lot of other riders feel the same from reading the comments, and so this add is unlikely to change our behaviour, and therefore it has failed to do what it was meant to do. I.E. Shit add

@Damian2257 And that is the point which we tried to communicate to the TAC. I don't think that any riders took much notice of the content of this ad, and that fact seems to have been born out in the overall bike toll here in Victoria since that ad went to air. We are now 20 up on last year. That tells us something - that TAC just don't get it - Yet. I think they are trying to, and are certainly starting to listen to what we are telling them.

i disagree with the lanesplitting comment. if done in right settings it is safer.

@eoyourmom Certainly agree there. Lanesplitting can be absolutely safe, if one understands what they are doing. Training in the application of this "skill" is what is required - not just telling riders that they must not do it. Riders do it every day - everywhere and there are very few accidents that can be aligned to the practice. Trained riders do it - and don't have accidents IMHO.

You f'n idiots TAC. How dare you paint motorcyclists in this light. Sure a few riders do stupid stuff like this add but 90% do not. You make all bike riders out to be hoons.

Picture a P plater with big exhaust you can fit your head into and lowered suspension on some $hitbox. Not all drivers are like that right. Well you successfully painted ALL bike riders in a similar light

It does make us look like demented morons on a death wish - unlike 99.9% of the riders I have ever seen..Nevertheless, it is up to us to reduce our risks - but not our fun on 2 wheels. What we must ensure TAC and all the other sheltered workshops that extract money from us for the privilege of riding is how to get the same empathy that the treadlies do - but pay nothing to use the same roads! I was riding North of Sydney last Sunday, PAID $11 to use a National Park - they were free...TO RACE!!
