Opel Diplomat 283cui V8 hot rod for sale

Friend is selling this car. His ad.

Will sell Opel Admiral made in 1966 with eight-cylinder Chevrolet 283 cubic inch (4.7 liter) - note that is the engine originally from the factory and V8 Admiral hence diplomats (luxury version of the same) were produced quite a few.

The car is completely done by the mechanics - GO engine, new gearbox (automatic 4-speed GM 200R4, originally there was 2-speed Powerglide), reconditioning the axles and brakes. Body is rust free and matte black paint, interior is complete and usable, but it Lack of cosmetic details (have the parts) and need work on the front seats. Everything works, the car rides as angry, makes noise and leaves behind a black line on the road.

You can ride with it as is and leave it at "Hot Rod style, or finish cosmetics and make it a veteran or a greater madness - the engine is still basically a serial (the only change is 4barrel carburetor), so it has plenty of room for performance improvement.

That car is a small America (relatively - it's still about the same size as the S-class) ...

Price 6.000 EUR but speed plays a big role. Alternatively, you can exchange for something else interesting.

I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old V8 Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree

Da mein Admiral auch über eine Heckscheibenentfrostung verfügt ist mir das nicht als besonders aufgefallen, aber du hast Recht. Die Tatsache dass der Wagen im Video scheinbar elektrische Fensterhaber hat (Kurbeln fehlen soweit ich das erkennen kann) und der Automatikwahlhebel in der Mittelkonsole ist spricht ebenfalls dafür, dass es ein Diplomat ist. Das falsche Emblem wundert mich trotzdem ein wenig, deine Erklärung dafür scheint aber logisch..

An den Türverkleidungen glaube ich die aufwendigen Armlehnen des Diplomat zu erkennen, ebenfalls sieht man auf der Hutablage the Luftschlitze der Heckscheibenentfrostung, ebenfalls ein Diplomat-Merkmal (Sonderausstattung im Kapitän/Admiral). Ich vermute, daß es sich bei diesem Wagen um einen Diplomat handelt, bei dem die Metallblenden des Admiral die spröde und brüchig gewordenen Echtholzfurnierblenden(!) des Diplomat ersetzen. Beim KAD B war es dann Holzfolie, beim A aber noch Echtholzfurnier.

Ab 0:21 sieht man das Emblem ziemlich deutlich bei mir ("Admiral" + V8 Logo). Beim Diplomat würde auch sofort das Holzimitat bei Innenausstattung auffallen - ist hier nicht vorhanden. Habe selbst auch einen Admiral A..

@ X3cutioner: Wie kommst Du auf Admiral? Kann den Schriftzug innen rechts am Armaturenbrett nicht eindeutig erkennen. Mehr Vids wären tatsächlich hilfreich. Klangkulisse beim sanften Beschleunigen ist auf jeden Fall lecker!
