The Sub1 gene--identified by researchers at the International Rice Research Institute -IRRI; http://www.irri.org - and University of California--enables rice to survive complete submergence for up to 17 days--seeing is believing! To show the effect of the Sub1 gene, a time-lapse video done over a 127-day period from 14 June to 16 October 2007 on the IRRI farm, was prepared by IRRI's photography and video section.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. These are regular rice varieties used by farmers with a gene inserted from another rice variety long used by farmers themselves. GMO and Monsanto have nothing to do with it.

All well and good until stray seeds (or their crossed offspring) find their way into non-productive wetland areas and potentially become persistant weeds. Oh, the GE/agrichem companies will have a solution, Win-win for them ;)
